The Journey Home

Today we wake early, have our last breakfast at the Bush Camp, and load the bus for Nelson (our driver) to take us on the 7-hour drive to JoBurg’s airport. We have a packed lunch on the way, and two short comfort stops. We arrived at the airport 4 hours early, but need to check our luggage and go through security. We are finally on the plane on the way home. After 7 long hours, we have an hour layover in Senegal for fueling. Another 8 hours we touch down in JFK, tired, cramped and happy to be on home soil. We head through immigration, and customs and split into our respective airlines for the final segment of our 35+-hour journey home. We shall never forget the sights and sounds of South Africa. All that has touched our hearts, our imaginations and our spirits forever changes us.
